BentoYa Cooking: Making Vegan Kyara-Ben Bento box

Bentoya, meaning “Bento place” is a unique cooking class offered mainly in Tokyo, Yokohama and Osaka. In this workshop you can learn authentic Japanese cuisine taught in English. I attended the Osaka Bentoya Cooking workshop at Cocowell cafe in Kita-Horie. It was my first time creating a Kyara-ben lunchbox.

Kyara-ben is short for character Bento. I created a vegan lunchbox with the cute Shaun the Sheep character! Led by Bentoya co-founder, Rina Ikeda, I learned about her motivation to teach Japanese cuisine to foreigners and to create more vegan options for Vegans and Vegetarians in Japan. She clearly has a passion for cooking and sharing Japanese cuisine in a healthy way.
